| | Scottsboro was named for Robert Thomas Scott, previously a resident of North Carolina. He moved to Bellefonte and ran a hotel and owned the land which is currently Scottsboro. Scottsboro was initially named Scottsville since there was a town named Scottsboro already, but was later named Scott's mill. Three acres were provided for the courthouse square and a school. The lots surrounding the square area was donated to be sold to the public through the years. | | Websun's Scottsboro/Jackson County site www.scottsboro.org www.scottsboro.com Jackson County Courthouse |
