Jackson County Tourism 2005 Annual Events First Monday Weekend Trade Days - See 2005 dates below. Est. Attendance: 8,500; Jackson County Courthouse Square, Scottsboro, AL. One of the Deep South' s oldest and largest trade days where bartering, haggling, and swapping of goods has not passed on with time. It is a true blend of antique shows, craft fairs, and rummage sales. Believed to have begun in the mid-1850's, where merchants plied their wares around the Court House in downtown Scottsboro. Spring Fling-Junior College Golf Tournament - March 17,18, and 19 at Goose Pond Colony, Scottsboro. See the best young golfers from around the nation compete for recognition as the team to beat in May when most of them come back to Goose Pond to play for the National Championship. Info: The Chamber at 256-259-5500 or Goose Pond at 256-259-2884. 11th Siege of Bridgeport Re-enactment - Celebrated March 18th, 19th, & 20th. The undisputed largest re-enactment in Alabama. Bridgeport brings history alive when over 2,000 re-enactors thrill thousands of curious visitors and history buffs with their authentic re-creation of this fateful battle of the Civil War. Southeast Sharkfest - April 15th, 16th, & 17th at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro. The largest gathering of BMW's and BMW enthusiasts in the South. Storytelling Festival - May 1st - 7th on Gorham's Bluff in Pisgah. Gorham's Bluff Institute presents America's best storytellers. This year features Diane Ferlatte and Donald Davis. Events include: A Youth Teller Celebration, Stories 'Round the Table Benefit Dinner & Performance, a day of Teller Sessions and Workshops, and The Tale End Concert. - Admission charged. Gorham's Bluff Institute presents a superlative weekend of classical music. A celebrated group of performers presents several concerts include a Homecoming Concert, Hoover Library Concert, Concert Under the Stars, and Children's Concert. Admission charged. An old-fashioned festival that celebrates its railway heritage with parades, ice creme social, pioneer breakfast, a street dance, story telling, clogging, museum tours, and other period entertainment. The festival also features the Pro Lawnmower Racing, Alabama Bug Jam, Free concerts and much, much more. Join in the entire day of family fun as Bridgeport celebrates its present to help preserve its historical past. Be a part of the patriotic decorated bike and tricycle parade at 1:30. You might be a winner. There will be musical entertainment throughout the day including blue grass, gospel and local pickers and singers. Also food vendors, silent auction, arts & crafts, bingo, antique car show, motorcycle show, children's games, and historical storytelling with re-enactors. Just good gospel and bluegrass music. Crow Mountain Hill Climb - October 1st & 2nd - Jackson County Road 33 between Scottsboro & Stevenson, AL off of U.S. Highway 72. A nationally sanctioned Sports Car Club of America event located in the Appalachian mountain setting of Jackson County.
